If I'm not mistaken,i started to involved in this dart arena since I was in Primary 5. It was my father whom suddenly added a new interest on his own and making us his children to participate..At first, i thought, for girls,it was impossible for us to play that kind games,as it was originally and mostly played by guys and  it is a bit we like to classify as a dangerous games if not carefully handle it..

It is a very interesting games to play once you knew the rules, correct steps and etika of playing. It sure seems like a simple game but once u familiar with it,it is a game that needed you to be ready physically nor mentally......

In 2008,i joined the Malaysian Open which been held in Karambunai Beach Resort,Sabah..I joined the women's single category..All the darters from around the world came to Sabah to join the tournament..I didn't even think about winning it as i merely just want to to get used to the keadaan during the tournament..not only that, during that time,i was able to met Filipino's guy,a very charming guy..hehe...,'orang putih',if I'm not mistaken from UK i think,Singaporeans,Japaneses and many more..It is sure is once in a lifetime experience..

After a few years involved in this area of darts,i've been exposed various skills and basic rules to play darts well. Here are some guidelines to enhance your interest and knowledges about darts..

Introduction to Darts
  • Each person should have at least 1 set of 3 darts.
  • Each person throws three darts first, then removes them before the next person throws.
  • There should NEVER EVER EVER BE MORE than 3 darts on the dartboard at one time.
  • It is best to have your own set of darts. Avoid SHARING darts as it drastically slows down the game.
  • The object of the game is simple... each player starts with the same score (501, for example) and the first to reduce his score to zero wins.
  • Players take turns throwing three darts each and subtract all points scored from their own beginning score (501/301/101)
  • Darts that bounce off or miss the board do not score and cannot be rethrown.
  • To win, you must reach zero before your opponent, but you must also reach exactly zero, and the dart that brings the score down to zero must be a double
Haha..Confuse??This is only the overall introduction to darts..Don't get confused 1st,once you familiar with it,it would be just like a piece of a cake.

Firstly, let me introduce you some basic parts of dart.

    1. FLIGHTS
Flights are the fins or wings found at the back of a dart. They serve to stabilize the dart during the flight.

    2. SHAFTS
Shafts serve to hold the flights away from the center of mass of the dart barrel.  The shaft acts as a lever to make the flight more effective at resisting sideways motion.
    3. FLIGHTS PROTECTOR
It holds the flight or fins or wings.

The proper way of standing, gripping and throwing of darts

    Standing

A proper stance sets up your whole dart game. A steady stance is very important. Don't lean way over the line to get closer to the board.. Leaning affects our stability.
Our feets and legs should be positioned in a solid, comfortable and relaxed stance.
Excessive leaning places nearly all of the body weight on one foot, tiring the shooter in long matches and damaging accuracy in the short run.
In EVERY competitive sport, ACCURACY begins with a Solid Stance!

Stand Straight, Elbow Up, and you will effectively double the power of your throw without any extra effort. For one thing, the dart is much higher than when leaning, so gravity does much of the work for you.

    Gripping
    • Get your tip up
    • Holding the dart
    • Keep your free fingers open
    • Find the dart's center of gravity

    Throwing

The throw is the most important element of a successful dart player.
Every throw is unique, but here are few things you should know before you develop your dart throw:

    • Proper alignment
    • Holding the dart
    • Steady throwing motion
    • Balanced stance

Practice makes perfect. That is as true for darts as it is for any other sport. If you want to play consistent and competitive darts you need to practice as often as possible. Some people recommend shooting at least one hour per day.

But what separates a good player from a great player is shooting consistently match after match. GOOD LUCK!..
